The cheapest Starlink Mini plan
The Mini kit plus the cheapest Roam plan that covers your trips, and what year one really costs. Roam prices are national, from Starlink’s US order list on Nov 4, 2026.
The cheapest Mini setup is the $149 Mini kit with Roam 100GB at $55 a month (Nov 4, 2026): $809 for year one, before taxes (our math).
Starlink sizes Roam 100GB at roughly a week of typical use per month; past that, data keeps coming at low speed. Heavier travel points to Roam 300GB or Unlimited, which cost more but slow down later or never.
The three Roam plans for a Mini
- Roam 100GBTravel · about a week of use$55/mo
- Roam 300GBTravel · several trips a month$80/mo
- Roam UnlimitedTravel · full-time$175/mo
- Roam 100GB, $55/mo: Starlink aims it at occasional trips and camping, sized at roughly a week of typical use, with unlimited slow data afterward.
- Roam 300GB, $80/mo: Starlink’s Roam 300GB card targets “regular travelers with multiple trips a month”.
- Roam Unlimited, $175/mo: Roam Unlimited never drops to low speed and works abroad in 160+ countries and territories, Starlink says.
Roam 100GB gives 100 GB at full speed each billing cycle, after which data keeps flowing slowly (about 500 Kbps).
Year one with a Mini (our math)
| Plan | Per month | Kit | Year one |
|---|---|---|---|
| Roam 100GB | $55 | $149 | $809 |
| Roam 300GB | $80 | $149 | $1,109 |
| Roam Unlimited | $175 | $149 | $2,249 |
A first-time customer who qualifies gets the $100 referral credit later, once your service has run for two months, and it pays toward Roam bills, not the Mini. These totals leave it out; on Roam 100GB it would bring year one to $709 (our math). Year two is 12 × the plan with no kit to buy. Every plan’s first year, compared.
The Mini kit price
starlink.com listed the Mini at $149 on Nov 4, 2026. The Mini was $249 on starlink.com before Starlink cut it to $149 on Oct 2, 2026 (Tesla North, citing a Starlink email). Anything still quoting $249 for the Mini is out of date. A brand-new Mini bought from starlink.com in the US carries an “Activation Benefit” of an amount Starlink doesn’t publish, provided you open a new account and activate within 7 days of delivery. Other kit routes, rentals included, are compared on cheapest kit.

Already paying for home Starlink? Check the combos
A Residential Max household can add a rented Mini with no monthly charge and pay half price on eligible Roam plans (subject to change, not offered everywhere, one per customer). On Residential 100 or 200 Mbps, at addresses where Starlink runs the offer at all, the Roam discount is 20%. If Roam 100GB is eligible at your address, 50% off would make it $27.50 a month and 20% off $44 (our math).
That only makes sense if you’d pay for the home plan anyway; see $0 hardware for what Max costs to get there. Also, Starlink’s offer document bars stacking the Max extras with other offers, and it doesn’t say whether a referral counts as one.
Limits before you order
- 100GB runs out. Starlink sizes it at roughly a week of typical use; streaming burns through it faster.
- The home-plan combos are patchy. Not in every location, one per customer, and subject to change.
- A store Mini earns nothing. Starlink’s retailer page names 16 US chains that stock its kits, Walmart and Amazon among them, and a kit from any of them earns no referral reward.
Skip the order for now if…
- you stream every evening on the road: Roam 100GB drops to low speed once its 100 GB is used
- the Mini will come from a store: a store purchase can’t earn the credit, then or later
- it’s for one trip only: the referral terms are written for customers who stay
- you’re on Residential Max already: check whether your address offers its Mini rental before buying one
- you have, or once had, a Starlink account: the credit is for first-time customers only
